21 yr old Competative 3* rider
Hi all well here is just a little about me. Just because we can :)
I have been riding since the early days of 1993, and have never stopped loving it. I was born into the horsey community as my mother Eileen Moore use to be heavily into the showing of the arabs back in the days when I wasnt around to mess things up! :)
I started my career in the lead line ring with Balmoral Bagatelle my little superstar pony who taught me all the tricks about riding and how to sit to a little buck every now and again. My Mum had big plans for me she had already started breeding a very nice line of Leedales to take me out into the Hacking world and take me to the top. I stayed with hacking for quite a while not loving it but not totally hating it either. I eventually grew some longer legs to be able to ride my wild pony Leedale Royal Albert. He wasnt wild at all really! where I stayed in the lead line for a little longer as its hard to get on bigger horses... especially at a young age :P
I had some lessons from Mums friend Helen Moore. Just to get me a little more prepped to what I would then go on to achieve. I spent many years on my little Albi but it was coming to my Mums attention that I wasnt going to be short for much longer. From riding Albert Mum had a Lovely horse for me Leedale Grace who was HUGE I mean a whole 13.2 hh MASSIVE... well it was at the time alright? anyway Grace and I didnt really get along and I kinda found out what dirt was at the end of our relationship. I still hadnt developed my stick yet! So off horse hunting we went with Helen and my Mum and we came across two SUPERB ponies but I fell in love at first site with Leedale Leia!
Princess Leia she was to me she took me everywhere and did everything! At this stage I was a PC member so just starting to expirience what XC was all about but I wasnt quite hitched yet! So I stayed with hacking for a while after that and went to PC for the social side of things. It took me a year thats all and I started to get the fever! The Eventing Bug. I had made friends with some amazing people at Serpy at this time Emma Mostert, Andrea Downey, Summer Bright and who can forget Tracy and Jaquie Lloyd the girls who jumped the really big fences :O AHHHHHHHHH!
Starting from the bottem I worked my way through the grades I grew quickly out of Albert and faced my challenge of starting my very first horse Leedale Kariss. We were a very green combination but Mum knew Kariss had all the right attributes to be a Safe horse for me. Years passed and I was quickly catching up to The Lloyds.
I had been getting on and off lesson with Victoria Hamilton at this stage she was the first person who showed me "Dressage" which I like to call Stressage. What a horrible phase that is not my favourite for sure. As soon I got on to Leedale Kariss Mum and Dad realised they should get on to finding me a bigger horse. While all this was happening I competed at many PCAWA State Dressage and Showjumping Champs and eventually made it big time in the EVENTING Champs go me. Leedale Distinctive Guy was to be my next horse who was brought by Jenny and Colin Lang as a youngster who we promptly brought back when the came to sell up. My first big horse was a big step from 14.2 to 16hh but we managed Guy was quiet enough to me to kick around some E grades and start to make my path to the Big time.
Time past and many rugs, Trophies, Garlands the works were collected. Horses were going great I just started my first time ever breaking in a young pony called Leedale Miss Millionaire who was by our amazing Leedale Mizbet and Leedale Jane. Got her going very sweetly and then off she trucked to QLD.
I had caught the bug by this stage, I blame one person really. My Favourite Instructor Sonja Johnson. I remember her coming to Serpentine HPC for a clinic one day and she turned me from Hacking snob to Eventing L plater. Months past and many clinics went down from then with Sonja. She got talking with my parents one day and always talked about miles you need miles under your belt... Love her for that talk thats how we got looking for my next Superstar.
We went to Melbourne and looked at a fair few nice horses but one was super Dressage the other super Showjumping nothing with the annoying ADD attitude and strong althlete build so we called Sonja and said HELP she contacted Sam Lyle who then put us on to Tarsha Hammond. Tarsha who was located in Sydney (yes we made that huge drive for ONE horse) presented us with my perfect match. Big strong man with muscles galore DROOL. He went by the name Sebastian Bach. I remember riding him on the flat getting off and looking at Mum and Dad and saying YES he is the one... so Master Seb was promptly vet checked and trucked to WA.
We had a great few weeks together! Was so pumped to start taking him out then... of course a big hiccup. Sebastian throught it would be super cool to Fracture his skull on a low lying branch. So off to Murdoch 20 staples later and 6 months off I have a horse with a dented skull... I was still in Love looks dont matter at all!!
Seb, Guy, Kariss and I went on to take on EWA eventing world. Just like to say how bloody scary it was. I had some super people I knew around me Summer Bright was already out there Makayla Wood was a Riverside PC member hitting big time aswell so knew some people :)
Seb took me from the small B grade pony club to the 2* eventing in his time with me. We travelled a fair bit in our lifetime too :)
in 2009 I was free from school. I had arranged to go and train with Staurt Tinney for a bit from July to November after competing at Nationals with Sebastian. I had a super time there was a big wake up all about what life was about and how we have to train so hard mentally and physically to make it in the big time eventing. I did my rounds over there and headed for the big one Australian International Three day event... the last time Seb was there he scored an E on xc with Tarsha so I was pretty determined
We did do it we completed! I was very proud and then we managed to top that with a Super WA eventing team we came 1st in the teams challenge! Go us...
Back home for a bit over summer I went and my next plan was to hit up Adelaide and train with Gillian Rolten. I planned to stay here longer and ended up living my year in my Truck. 2010 saw Sebastian and I getting selected to represent Australia in the Young Rider TransTasman in NZ! it was a big treck but what an expirience such a great team of Young Riders with soo much talent! we ended up being beaten by the Kiwis but had such an amazing time we couldnt of cared less...
Back to SA I went and then onto my first Melbourne Three Day event...
Melbourne was going super we got our first Equissage Machine. Sebastian was being a star and Guy was trying his hardest. Guy was first XC I kinda knew we werent going to be flash but we did manage to get half way round before a E was added :(
then to make my day worse Sebastian went XC it was the rise and the fall of a Champion. We were super absolutley amazing. A young girl fell off infront of me so I was held on course 1 min 30 later I was restarted I had only jumped 3 fences when BANG. Sebastian had hit himself quite hard on a fence but the champion he is he kept canter on. First time ever I have come in clear and UNDER TIME. Pulled him back to a trot ... something wasnt right! He was trotting lame. On went the ice and a big night ahead I stayed up all night getting my boy comfortable but he definatly wasnt improving. I was even sitting 6th!!! wow! morning came I got 3 hours sleep. I had to pull him. He wasnt sound nor happy.
Home we trekked to SA with one naughty Guy getting E and my big boy injured. We gave him a day, you know the day the vet kinda said you know he will come good. We trotted him out there was an improvement but I knew best my boy needed help and ASAP! off to the vets we went... with me sobbing the whole way there. My love of my life and he was broken.
He had his xrays and news was not good! Sebastian had Fractured his stifle and also had a 5 out of 6 Heart Mumor... he was trucked home the next day to undergo surgery back in WA to give him the best recovery! It was ment to be a easy surgery you know it was just a flake! NOT it was the size of a 50 cent coin. He recovered well and now lives his days as the stable menace:) cant bear to part with him!
So I was left with my amazing two Leedale Distinctive Guy and APH Longasox. I had to be strong and carry on and make some more champions. We were off to Sydney Three day. I had been looking at a lovely horse of Shane Roses and was lined up to have a ride when in Sydney.
I finally caught up with Sonja there and she mentioned to go look at a mare aswell by the name of Ellesmere Cailin. So Dex was first at the completion of the event Shane even brought him to Siec for me :) LOVE LOVE LOVE ADD big boy cheeky attitude! I went for a second ride the next day and then we vetted him a couple after. Sir Dex was mine a 10 yr old TB 2* eventer. We drove to Melbourne later that arvo and stayed with Catherine Davies where I was lucky enough to sit on an amazing mare Cailin. Mum and Dad couldnt go past her she had something about her we all loved. SCORE two new eventers both 2* loving life.
Guy and Sox we trucked home for a break whilst I had a play with Dex and Cailin at Gills. My goals were set high.... Adelade HT again with only 8 weeks on Cailin and 6 weeks on Dex I was there! I did complete on one im not completly nuts Cailin and I were on the team aswell and WA just held such a high standard and took out 1st again!! Dex was a good kid... I just have alot to work on with him!
2011 has seen me training at home! (thankgod) with two students here at Leedale and an Amazing Groom im happy to be home and all ready for this season so.... BRING IT ON!!!
